Dear Anne, I can't tell you how much this book speaks to me... Re-wilding speaks to me, especially now. The images conjoin in such a transitional way, much like how I envision re-wilding to be. "à ce besoin de laisser des traces, quelles graines as-tu semées?" literally gave me chills. There's an echo of responsibility with this phrase. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thank you for your insightful comment ! I love how you see the flow in the work. Everything here was intuitive, meaning that I kept the pages in the order they were created. I’m happy that it flows well. And I love your comment about responsibility in that question. I hadn’t thought about it that way, but it hits on the notion of intentionality. And being grown up means that we must take responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Therein lies the difference between the wildness of child selves and our adult selves. I’m always so grateful for your insights, Juliette ! You help me understand my own work even better. You would be an excellent teacher ! 🤍🤍🤍
Dear Karen, when I read your posts, I sense exactly that— you and I are on similar journeys. I’m in wonderful company! Each time I put my arms around a tree and open myself up fully to the gifts and exchanges that occur when we embrace the natural world from the deepest part of ourselves, I think of you.
This is so beautiful Anne, in words and images. I can sense that this has been made with love and is a testament to your grief, your creativity and finding your Self. Rewilding - it's seems a natural transition to take this description of how some landowners are rewilding their land, bringing it back to it's natural, raw way of being, and adapt it to ourselves...bringing us back to our true nature. Lovely work!
Dear Lin, thanks so much for your lovely words! When I came up with the term re-wilding for what I’m going through, I wasn’t aware of its use in ecology. But now that I know about the concept in applied science, and given that we humans are micro ecosystems, it speaks perfectly to the notion of bringing us back to who we truly are.
Dear Anne, your reflection on re-wilding feels deeply tender and courageous, like an open hand extended toward both memory and possibility. The way you weave art, grief, nature and renewal together is profoundly moving, and it speaks to the quiet, resilient ways we return to ourselves. Thank you so much for sharing something so honest and luminous. 🙏💖
Dear Deborah, I’m so grateful for your kind , beautiful words and for the deep way in which you see and understand things. Thanks so much. It’s comments like yours that encourage me to keep going, to keep exploring, to keep seeing where this journey takes me.
This is exactly what I needed to read this morning. The paragraph about Trauma, loss...resonates. I also continue to collage my work - thank you, as always, for the inspiration and the words! - Julia
Dear Julia, I’m grateful for your comment and for your sharing about what resonates with you. We’re on this journey together, and I find comfort in knowing that. I love the work you make! Thanks so much for being here.
"Rewilding" is perfect! It is an ecology process for restoring natural ecosystems that you so beautifully translated to your life journey. This is a brilliant post that I feel deeply. Your art book is gorgeous, btw! 🌿
Dear Artemis, thanks so much for your kind words and for telling me about the use of this terms with ecosystems. I wasn’t aware of it, but now that I am, and given that we humans are micro ecosystems in and of ourselves; I’m convinced that this term applies perfectly to what I’ve been going through. Thanks for being part of the journey!
It is absolutely my pleasure, Anne! And *thank you* for your gorgeous, intuitive and deep thoughts on your connection to natural processes. So inspiring! 🌿✨️
I've been dipping into and enjoying “Tell Me,” a 2000 book of fairly raucous poems by Kim Addonizio. Her musings smell like bourbon and an interesting life. The shake-up has been bracing and welcome.
Your words and images are, as always, beautiful and inspiring! Marking time resonates with me too, Anne. Perhaps the finitude of it remains a constant whisper in our hearts and minds—gently reminding us. Maybe it’s the undercurrent that nudges us to reflect on our lives and respond through our art.
Hi Anne, I'm about to leave town and so, I'm bookmarking this to return to in a few days, but I started it and wanted to say that this idea of re-wilding speaks to me directly. I look forward to reading more...
The artist book looks so beautiful! I love the world re-wilding and I also love making up words. Thanks for sharing!
